Lande Scores Hat Trick in Win

CARLINVILLE, Ill. – The Webster University women's soccer team was back on the pitch this afternoon when they traveled to Carlinville, Illinois, to take the Blackburn (Ill.) College Beavers in a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Beavers by a final score of 4-0 to improve to 12-3-1 on the season and 8-2-1 in conference play. The loss moves Blackburn to 0-13 on the season and 0-11 in the SLIAC.

The Gorloks controlled the possession in this one as they recorded 32 shots in the game including 20 on target. They held the Red Devils to just three in the contest with one making it on frame. The Gorloks finished with four corner kicks in the game while Blackburn did not have any.

Hope Dedic got the scoring started for the Gorloks early in the contest as she was able to tap in a ball that bounced off Sophie Thoman for her fifth tally of the year. The assist from Thoman was her second of the season.

Jordan Lande increased the lead for Webster in the 29th minute as she was able to find the back of the net for the 15th time this year. Mackenzie Sundhausen had the assist for the Gorloks as her shot deflected off the Blackburn keeper and right to Lande who was able to finish it off to give Webster a 2-0 lead. Jordan Lande was back at it again just before the half as she finished off a pass from Kelly Bowen for her 16th of the year. The assists marked Sundhausen's fourth and Bowen's first.

The Gorloks continued to play well in the second half and picked up their final goal of the game in the 77th minute. Jordan Lande once again scored for the Gorloks as she finished off a penalty kick for her league leading 17th goal of the season.

Taryn Banfield was in goal for Webster as she recorded one save in her seventh solo shutout of the year. The win moves her overall record to 11-3-1 as the starting keeper.

The Gorloks will return to the field on Saturday, October 23rd when they travel to Eureka, Illinois, to take on the Eureka (Ill.) College Red Devils in a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to start at 3 p.m.
