Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Gorloks Defeat Red Devils 3-0

EUREKA, Ill. – This afternoon the Webster University women's soccer team was back on the pitch when they traveled to Eureka, Illinois, to take on the Eureka (Ill.) College Red Devils in a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks were able to defeat the Red Devils by a final score of 3-0 to improve to 13-3-1 on the season and 9-2-1 in the SLIAC. With the loss, the Red Devils fall to 3-12 on the year and 2-10 in conference play.

The Gorloks outshot the Red Devils by a final count of 40-0. They put 25 shots on target. Webster also controlled the corner count as they finished with four in the game while the Red Devils did not finish with any.

After a scoreless first half, the Gorloks picked it up to start the second. Mackenzie Sundhausen got the scoring going as she finished off a pass from Jennifer Munger in the 68th minute to give Webster a 1-0 lead. Sundhausen was back at it again just 30 seconds later when Munger found her for her second goal of the contest.

Olivia Alvarez finished off the scoring for the Gorloks as she found the back of the net for the fourth time this season with 10 minutes to play in the game.

Taryn Banfield was in goal for the Gorloks as she recorded her eighth solo shutout of the season.

Webster will be back on the field on Wednesday, October 27th when they play host to the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers in their final regular season home game. The match is set to start at 5 p.m.
