Gorloks Win Ninth Straight on Senior Day

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the Webster University men's soccer team was back on the pitch when they played host to the Principia (Ill.) College Panthers in a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks, who came into this game on an eight-game winning streak, were able to extend their streak to nine as they defeated the Panthers by a final score of 7-0 to improve to 11-1 on the season and 7-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. With the loss, Principia College falls to 1-8-1 on the season and 1-6-1 in SLIAC play.

Prior to the start of the contest, the Gorloks honored the nine seniors on their team for their hard work and dedication to the Webster University men's soccer program. The nine seniors that were honored include Tanner Haugen, Matt Coffey, Aamahn Murvin, Hunter Olaso, Matt Huster, Joacquin Soto, Isaac Pearson, Henok Moges, and Justin Kohler.

The Gorloks controlled the pace from the opening kick in this one as they finished with 36 total shots in the game compared to five from the Panthers. They were able to put 21 shots on target while the Panthers had just one. Webster also dominated the corner count as they had 14 corner kicks while the Panthers finished with one.

The Gorloks finished with three goals in the first half as Tanner Haugen (1), Tavis Cameron (2), and Carlos Llamas (8) all found the back of the net in the frame. Noah Abraham and Tanner Haugen had the assists for Webster.

The Gorloks added four more goals in the second half as Mark Moore found the back of the net twice (7), while Aamahn Murvin (11) and Noah Abraham (4) each tallied a goal as well. Justin Kohler finished with two assists, Mark Moore had an assist, and Henok Moges added an assist for Webster.

Matt Coffey and Jacob Klevorn split time in goal for the Gorloks as the two combined for one save in the teams eighth shutout of the season.

The Gorloks return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 13th when they travel down the road to take on Fontbonne (Mo.) University in a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. at Centene Stadium in Clayton, Missouri.
