Gorloks Improve to 8-0 on the Season

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This evening the Webster University women's basketball team was back on the court when they played host to the Baptist Bible (Mo.) College Patriots in a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks were able to stay unbeaten on the season as they defeated the Patriots by a final score of 95-65 to improve to 8-0 on the season. With the loss, the Patriots fall to 3-6 on the year.

The Gorloks shot the ball well in this one as they went 38-for-78 (48.7%) from the floor and 6-for-13 (46.2%) from behind the arc. They outrebounded the Patriots 45-24 and forced them to turn the ball over 30 times. They turned those 30 turnovers into 34 points on the other end while dishing out 24 assists on the night.

Webster got off to a quick start in this one as they jumped out to an early 17-4 lead. The Patriots settled in and were able to cut the lead to seven, but a 14-0 run to end the frame put the Gorloks up 31-10 heading into the second. Webster continued to push the tempo in the second quarter and were able to extend their lead to 31 with five minutes to play in the half. The Patriots had a tough time taking care of the ball down the final stretch of the half and Webster took a 63-21 lead into the locker room.

The Gorloks carried over their momentum into the second half and extended their lead to 50 with six minutes to play in the frame. They held a 44-point advantage to start the final quarter and cruised to their eighth straight win to stay unbeaten on the season.

Julie Baudendistel led the way for the Gorloks as she finished with a game high 19 points in the contest. In addition, Bethany Lancaster finished with 16 points and seven rebounds, Addison Beussink added 13 points and seven rebounds, Naomi Johnson finished with 10 points, and Lauryn Freeman added a team high five assists to round out the top performers for Webster.

The Gorloks are back in action on Saturday, December 11th when they play host the Mississippi University for Women Owls in a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 5 p.m. in Grant Gymnasium.
