Moore’s Brace Lifts Gorloks Past Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – This afternoon the Webster University men's soccer team was back on the pitch when they traveled to North Manchester, Indiana, to take on the Manchester (Ind.) University Spartans in their first game of the Anderson/Manchester Tournament. The Gorloks were able to defeat the Spartans by a final score of 4-1 to improve to 3-1 on the season. With the loss, the Spartans fall to 0-4 on the year.

Webster dominated the shot column in this one as they recorded six shots in the first half and seven shots in the second half for 13 total shots in the game. With the 13 shots, the Gorloks were able to put seven on target. They held the Spartans to just five shots in the contest including three on target.

Mark Moore led the way for the Gorloks offensively as he finished with two goals in the contest. He scored his first goal of the game 24 minutes into the contest when he finished off a pass from Nick Thomas for his second goal of the year. After a quick answer from the Spartans, Moore was able to finish off his second of the game with nine minutes left in the half to retake the lead. Elliot Mozingo had the assist for Webster.

Justin Kohler netted his first of the season for the Gorloks as he found the back of the net in the final minute of the first half. James Carr had the assist for Webster, his first of the season. Aamahn Murvin closed out the scoring for Webster as he tallied his third of the year off of an assist from Carlos Llamas.

Harley Kruschwitz had the lone goal for the Spartans in the first half.

Matt Coffey was between the pipes for Webster as he recorded two saves in the game.

The Gorloks are back in action tomorrow, September 11th when they travel to Anderson, Indiana, to take on the Anderson (ind.) University Ravens in the final game of the Anderson/Manchester Tournament. The game is set to kick-off at 4 p.m. EST.
