Gorloks Defeat Anderson 5-0

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Webster University men's soccer team was back on the pitch this afternoon when they traveled to Anderson, Indiana, to take on the Anderson (Ind.) University Ravens in a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Ravens by a final score of 5-0 to improve to 4-1 on the season. With the loss, the Ravens fall to 2-3 on the year.

The Gorloks dominated the shot column in this game as they recorded 13 shots in the first half and 11 shots in the second half for 24 total shots in the game. They were able to put 14 of those shots on target, forcing the Anderson keeper to make nine saves. They held Anderson to just five shots in the game including two on target.

Webster also dominated the corner count as they created eight corner kick opportunities in the game. Anderson was able to create four corner kick opportunities of their own.

After a scoreless first half, the Gorloks got on the board early in the second as Noah Abraham finished off his first of the season to give Webster a 1-0 lead. Carlos Llamas added his first of the season 19 minutes later when he was able to finish off his second of the year to give the Gorloks a 2-0 lead. Aamahn Murvin had the third goal for Webster as he netted his fourth of the year to make the score 3-0. Chase Boushard added the fourth goal for the Gorloks just 20 seconds after Murvins goal for his first of the year. Brendan Pagan finished off the scoring for Webster as he netted his first of the season with seven minutes to play.

Aamahn Murvin and Chase Boushard each added two assists in the contest.

Matt Coffey and Sriram Chidambaram split time in goal for the Gorloks as they combined for two saves in the shutout.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, the all tournament team was announced. For their efforts on the field over the last two games, Aamahn Murwin was named the tournamnet MVP, while Tanner Haugen, Henok Moges, and Mark Moore were all recognized to the all-tournament team.

The Gorloks will be back in action on Tuesday, September 14th when they play host to the Westminster (Mo.) University Blue Jays in their first SLIAC game of the season. The match is set to kick off at 7 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
