ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the Webster University men's soccer team took the field as they played host to the Blackburn (Ill.) University Beavers in their first SLIAC game of the season. The Gorloks were able to defeat the Beavers by a final score of 6-0 to improve to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. With the loss, the Beavers fall to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in the SLIAC.
The Gorloks came out in this one and controlled the possession from the start. They posted 16 shots in the first half and 11 shots in the second half for 27 total shots in the game. Of those 27 shots, 14 were put on target. They held the Beavers to eight shots in the game including four on target. The Gorloks also controlled the corner count as they racked up nine corner kicks compared to just one from the Beavers.
Joacquin Soto (1) got the scoring started for the Gorloks as he scored in the 26
th minute on a free kick to put the Gorloks up 1-0.
Justin Kohler (2) and
Aamahn Murvin (5) had the second and third goals for the Gorloks in the first half as they both assisted each others goals to put the Gorloks up 3-0 at the break.
Joacquin Soto (2) was back at it again in the second half as he found the upper 90 on a shot from outside of the box for his second tally of the game.
Aamahn Murvin (6) also found the back of the net for the second time in the second half as he was able to finish off his sixth of the year to put the Gorloks up 5-0.
Sebastian Soto Duarte (1) finished off the scoring for the Gorloks as he found the back of the net for the first time this season to solidify the win.

Jacob Klevorn, and
Sriram Chidambaram all split time in goal for the Gorloks as the three combined to make four saves in the combined shutout.
The men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Wednesday, September 22
nd when they travel to Louisville, Kentucky, to take on the Spalding (Ky.) University Golden Eagles. The game is set to kick-off at 8 p.m. EST.
