ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's soccer team was back on the pitch this afternoon when they opened conference play against Blackburn (Ill.) College. The Gorloks were able to defeat the short handed Beavers by a final score of 13-0 to improve to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. With the loss, the Beavers fall to 0-4 on the season and 0-2 in the SLIAC.
The Gorloks took advantage of the short handed Beavers as they controlled the possession for most of the game. They recorded 35 shots in the first half and 10 shots in the second half for 45 total shots in the contest while not allowing the Beavers to record a shot on goal all game. They also created four corner kick opportunities in the contest.
The Gorloks scored early and often in this one as it took them just 34 seconds to find the back of the net. They had eight different people score goals including
Jordan Lande who recorded a hat trick. The scoring went as follows:

Grace Rodgers finished with an assist,
Reaghan Young had an assist, and
Jaqlyn Ferguson added an assist to round out the top performers for the Gorloks.
Taryn Banfield was in goal for the Gorloks as she did not record a save in her second solo shutout in as many games.
The Gorloks return to the field on Wednesday, September 22
nd when they travel to Louisville, Kentucky, to take on the Spalding (Ky.) University Golden Eagles in a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. EST.
