ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This evening the Webster University women's soccer team was back on the pitch when they played host to the Westminster (Mo.) College Blue Jays in a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks, who lost their last two games, were able to bounce back tonight as they defeated the Blue Jays by a final score of 2-1 in double OT to improve to 6-3 on the season and 2-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. With the loss, Westminster falls to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in the SLIAC.
The Gorloks controlled the possession in this one as they racked up 10 shots in the first half, 10 shots in the second half, and seven shots between the overtime periods for 27 total shots in the game. Of those 27 total shots, seven were put on target. The Blue Jays finished with eight shots in the game including three on target. The Gorloks also controlled the corner count as they had five compared to just one from Westminster.
Jordan Lande got the scoring going in the game as she was able to find the back of the net for a team leading ninth time this season in the 23
rd minute of the contest.
Jennifer Munger had the assist for the Gorloks, her fourth of the year.
After a goal from the Blue Jays at the start of the second half, the score was tied at one at the end of regulation.
Jordan Lande had the game winner for the Gorloks as she was able to find the back of the net for the second time in the game in the 107
th minute to solidify the win for Webster.
Abbey Poe picked up her first assist of the season on the play.
Taryn Banfield was in goal for the Gorloks as she made two saves in the match.
The Gorloks are back in action on Wednesday, September 29
th when they host the Eureka (Ill.) College Red Devils in a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to start at 5 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
