Gorloks Improve to 2-1 on the Season

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Tonight the Webster University women's soccer team was back on the pitch when they played host to the Millikin (Ill.) University Big Blue in a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Big Blue by a final score of 2-1 to improve to 2-1 on the season. With the loss, Millikin falls to 2-1 on the year.

The Gorloks dominated the shot column in this one as they tallied nine shots in the first half and 14 shots in the second half for 23 total shots in the game. They held Big Blue to seven shots in the first half and three shots in the second for 10 total shots in the contest.

Webster also created 10 corner kick opportunities in the game including two in the first half and nine in the second half. They limited Millikin to just three in the first half and did not allow a corner in the second.

Mackenzie Sundhausen scored the first goal for the Gorloks in this one as she was able to finish off a pass from Chloe Dedic with just five seconds remaining in the first half. Jordan Lande had the game winner for Webster as she was able to beat the keeper with 10 minutes left to play in the game. Jordan Bilyeu had the assist on the game winning goal.

Bailee Blecker had the goal for Big Blue 10 minutes into the second half.

Taryn Banfield was the starting keeper for the Gorloks in this one as she recorded three saves in the game.

The women's soccer team will return to the field on Saturday, September 11th when they host the Benedictine (Ill.) University Eagles in a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at noon at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
