Gorloks Draw With Panthers

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's soccer team returned to the pitch this evening when they played host to the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers for a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks and the Panthers battled out a 2-2 draw as the Gorloks improve to 9-1-3 on the season and 7-0-2 in SLIAC play. The Panthers improve to 4-3-5 on the season and 4-1-4 in the conference.

Webster outshot the Panthers 12-9 in the game and put five shots on target compared to four from the Panthers. Greenville led in the corner count as they finished with four while Webster finished with three.

It did not take long for the Gorloks to get on the board in this one as Aamahn Murvin was able to finish off his 12th of the year in the fourth minute of the contest. Colby Kapp played a ball to Murvin in the middle of the field before Murvin beat several defenders and slipped the ball into the back of the net to give Webster a 1-0 advantage.

The Panthers answered with a goal just a few minutes later, but Webster was able to retake the lead in the 29th minute. Mark Moore had the goal for Webster as he finished off a pass from Aamahn Murvin for his third tally of the season. The Panthers tied the game late in the half and the score was 2-2 at the break.

Webster controlled the pace in the second half but were unable to take advantage of their scoring chances as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

Ty Baudendistel was in goal tonight for Webster as he recorded two saves in the contest.

The Gorloks will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 15 when they travel to Fulton, Missouri, to take on the Westminster (Mo.) College Blue Jays for a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to kick off at 3 p.m.
