CARLINVILLE, Ill. – This afternoon the Webster University men's soccer team was back in action when they traveled to Carlinville, Illinois, to take on the Blackburn (Ill.) College Beavers for their final game of the regular season. The Gorloks defeated the Beavers by a final score of 3-0 to improve to 13-2-3 on the season and 11-1-2 in SLIAC play. With the loss, the Beavers fall to 4-9-6 on the year and 1-7-6 in the conference.
Webster outshot the Beavers 23-9 in the contest and put 14 shots on target compared to two from the Beavers. The Beavers led in the corner count as they finished with six while the Gorloks had four.
Webster got on the board in the 12
th minute of the game as Colby Kapp was able to finish off his first of the season to give Webster a 1-0 lead. Amar Mujezinovic had the assist for Webster, his fourth of the year.
The Gorloks held the 1-0 lead through the break and were able extend their lead to 2-0 in the 75
th minute off of a goal from Marco Donjuan. Donjuan was back at it again just 44 seconds later when he found the back of the net for the fourth time this season to solidify the win for the Gorloks.. Luke Walsh and Mark Moore had the assists for Webster.
Sririm Chidambaram was in goal today for the Gorloks as he recorded two saves in his first shutout of the year.
The Gorloks have clinched the SLIAC Regular Season title and the top seed in the SLIAC Men's Soccer Tournament. Webster will host their semifinal match on Thursday, November 3
rd at 7:30 p.m. at WWT Soccer Park.
