Gorloks Stay Unbeaten in SLIAC Play

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Webster University men's soccer team was back on this pitch this evening when they traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, to take on the Spalding (Ky.) University Golden Eagles for a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Golden Eagles by a final score of 2-0 to improve to 8-1-2 on the year and 6-0-1 in conference play. With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 1-5-5 on the season and 0-3-4 in the SLIAC.

Webster outshot the Golden Eagles 13-7 and put six shots on target compared to just one from Spalding. The Golden Eagles led in the corner count as they tallied seven while the Gorloks finished with three.

The Gorloks got on the board early in this one as Aamahn Murvin scored his team leading 10th goal of the year just five minutes in. Mark Moore tried to play the ball to Murvin but the Spalding defender intercepted the pass and attempted to head the ball to his keeper. However, Murvin was able to use his speed to intercept the pass and slid the ball into the back of the net to give Webster a 1-0 lead.

Webster scored their second goal in the 65th minute of the game. Amar Mujezinovic had the goal for Webster as he finished off a pass from Aamahn Murvin for his fifth tally of the season. The assist was Murvins fourth of the year.

Ty Baudendistel was in goal for the Gorloks as he recorded one save in his third shutout of the season.

The Gorloks will return to the field on Saturday, October 8th when they host the Fontbonne (Mo.) University Griffins for a SLIAC matchup. The game, which was originally scheduled for 3:30 p.m., has been moved up 15 minutes to 3:15 at WWT Soccer Park.
