ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action yesterday when they played host to Baker (Kan.) University for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks were defeated by the Wildcats by a final score of 6-3 to fall to 6-7 on the season. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 1-7 on the year.
The Gorloks went 1-2 in the doubles portion of the match.
Maddie Mena and
Emily Casey picked up a win in #3 doubles as they defeated Cierra Williams and Cambrie Frame by a final score of 8-5.
Erin Brezovar and
Bailey Higgins fell in #1 doubles by a final score of 8-5 while
Emma Ferguson and
Kylie Chitwood fell in #2 doubles by a final score of 8-4.
The Gorloks fell in the singles portion of the match as they went 2-4 against the Wildcats.
Emma Ferguson won #2 singles as she defeated Patricia Moore by final scores of 7-5 and 6-1.
Maddie Mena picked up the final win for Webster as she defeated Cambrie Frame in #6 singles by final scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
The Gorloks return to the court this afternoon when they travel to Springfield, Missouri, to take on Evangel (Mo.) University. The match is set to start at 1 p.m.
