ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's tennis team was back in action yesterday when they played host to the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers for their first SLIAC match of the season. The Gorloks fell to the Panthers by a final score of 8-1 to fall to 8-8 on the season. With the win, the Panthers improved to 15-2 on the year.

The Gorloks had a tough time getting anything going in the doubles portion of the match as they were swept. Riley Muren and Matthew Birchmeier fell in #1 singles by a final score of 8-1, Carson Fisher and Tanner Haugen fell in #2 doubles by a final score of 8-3, and Chase Boushard and Aaron Demarco fell in #3 doubles by a final score of 8-1.

Riley Muren picked up the only win for the men in #1 singles. He defeated Rafael Rodriguez by final scores of 6-1 and 7-6 (9-7).

The Gorloks also played a tournament style match against Westminster that did not count towards the teams record. Webster won four of the six singles matches against the Blue Jays as Riley Muren defeated Cooper Pennington by a final score of 8-1, Matthew Birchmeier defeated Ryan Pemberton by a final score of 8-1, Carson Fisher defeated Aiden Petterson by a final score of 8-1, and Andrew McDonald defeated Ryan Pemberton by a final score of 8-3.
