ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster men's tennis team was back in action this afternoon when they played host to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Eutectics by a final score of 5-4 to improve to 8-7 on the season.
Webster started off the match by going 2-1 in the doubles.
Riley Muren and
Matthew Birchmeier won #1 doubles over Caden Hillman and Gavin Brown by a final score of 8-4.
Chase Boushard and
Aaron Demarco picked up the second win in #3 doubles as they defeated Alec Johnson and Anirudh Kalathil by a final score of 8-6.
The Gorloks picked up three wins in the singles portion of the match as they won #3, #4, and #5 singles.
Matthew Birchmeier won #3 singles over Gavin Brown by final scores of 6-4 and 6-2.
Tanner Haugen won #4 singles over Anirudh Kalathil by final scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Lastly,
Aaron Demarco won #5 singles over Alec Johnson by final scores of 6-3 and 6-2.
The Gorloks return to the court tomorrow, April 3
rd when they travel to Troy, Illinois, to take on the McKendree (Ill.) University Bearcats. The match is set to start at 1 p.m. at Triad High School.
