ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action last night when they played host to the Missouri Baptist University Spartans for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Spartans by a final score of 9-0 to improve to 9-8 on the season. With the loss, the Spartans fall to 1-8 on the year.
The Gorloks swept the doubles portion of the match as they won #1 doubles, #2 doubles, and #3 doubles.
Erin Brezovar and
Bailey Higgins defeated Nina Vasikjkovic and Elle Panke in #1 doubles by a final score of 8-2.
Emma Ferguson and
Kylie Chitwood defeated Myia McAllister and Laura Baracaldo in #2 doubles by a final score of 8-1. Lastly,
Emily Casey and
Maddie Mena completed the doubles sweep with a forfeit win.
Webster carried over their momentum into singles as they swept all six matches.
Erin Brezovar defeated Nina Vasiljkovic in #1 singles by final scores of 6-3 and 6-1.
Emma Ferguson defeated Laura Baracaldo in #2 singles by final scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
Bailey Higgins won #3 singles over Myia McAllister by final scores of 6-1 and 6-1.
Kylie Chitwood defeated Elle Panke in #4 singles by final scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
Emily Casey won #5 singles over Maddie Feick by final scores of 6-2 and 6-1. Lastly,
Maddie Mena won #6 singles by forfeit.
The Gorloks return to the court on Saturday, April 8
th when they play host to the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers for their first SLIAC match of the season. The match is set to start at 10 a.m. at Webster Groves Recreational Complex.
