ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's soccer team was back on the pitch tonight when they traveled to Fontbonne (Mo.) University to take on the Griffins for a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks, who have not lost a game against a SLIAC opponent in 28 straight matches, were able to defeat the Griffins by a final score of 5-0 to improve to 3-1-2 on the year and 1-0-1 in conference play. With the loss, the Griffins fall to 2-2-4 on the season and 1-1 in SLIAC play.
The Gorloks outshot the Griffins 12-4 in the match and had eight shots on target compared to one from Fontbonne. They also won the corner count as they finished with eight compared to three from the Griffins.
Aamahn Murvin got the scoring going for Webster as he finished off his second of the season in the 15
th minute of the game off of an assist from
Noah Abraham. Webster continued to play well as the half progressed and picked up a second goal in the 36
th minute when
Amar Mujezinovic finished off his second of the year on an assist from
Brendan Pagan. Pagan scored the final goal of the first half for the Gorloks as he finished off his second of the year on an assist from
Heath George.
The Gorloks carried over their momentum into the second half as
Noah Abraham extended Webster's lead to 4-0 in the 67
th minute. The goal was Abraham's third of the year and was assisted by
Aamahn Murvin.
Amar Mujezinovic finished off the scoring for Webster as he scored his second of the game in the 70
th minute off of a second assist from
Heath George.
Luke Dillon and
Ty Baudendistel split time in goal for Webster as the two combined to make one save in their first combined shutout of the season.
The Gorloks will return to the field on Wednesday, September 21
st when they host the Blackburn (Ill.) College Beavers for their first SLIAC home game of the season. The match is set to kick-off at 7:30 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
