Murvin Nets Three in Win

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's soccer team played their first home conference game of the season this evening when they played host to Blackburn (Ill.) College. The Gorloks, who are currently ranked eighth in Region VIII, defeated the Beavers by a final score of 4-0 to improve to 4-1-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in SLIAC play. With the loss, the Beavers fall to 2-3-1 on the year and 0-2-1 in conference play.

Webster outshot the Beavers 24-6 in the contest and put 11 shots on target compared to two from the Beavers. Webster also led in the corner count as they finished with eight while the Beavers finished with five.

Aamahn Murvin got the scoring going for the Gorloks in the 15th minute of the game. Amar Mujezinovic played the ball to Murvin who beat a defender and slipped it past the Beaver keeper for his third of the season. Murvin was back at it again in the 54th minute of the game as he finished off a cross from Noah Abraham to give Webster a 2-0 lead.

The Gorloks continued to push the tempo and were able to get a third goal in the 64th minute of the contest. Noah Abraham headed in his fourth tally of the season off of a pass from Amar Mujezinovic to give the Gorloks a 3-0 advantage. Aamahn Murvin closed out the scoring just a few seconds later as he finished off a pass from Mark Moore for his fifth of the year and third of the game.

Luke Dillon got the start in goal in this one as he made two saves in 64 minutes. Ty Baudendistel finished off the game and did not face any shots. The two combined for the teams second straight shutout and fifth of the season.

The Gorloks will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 24th when they host Westminster (Mo.) College for a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to kick-off at 3:30 p.m. at WWT Soccer Park.
