ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's soccer team was back on the field this afternoon when they played host to the Westminster (Mo.) College Blue Jays for a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks improved to 5-1-2 on the year and 3-0-1 in SLIAC play with a 1-0 win. With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 1-7 on the year and 1-3 in conference play.
The Gorloks outshot the Blue Jays by a final count of 25-9 and put nine shots on target compared to four from Westminster. Webster also won the corner count as they finished with seven while the Blue Jays finished with five.
The Gorloks came out in the first half and controlled the possession early. They created several scoring chances in the period but were unable to capitalize as the game remained scoreless at the break.
The Gorloks were finally able to get into the scoring column in the 88
th minute of the contest.
Bryce Buchheit played a ball out wide to
Robbie Percival who beat a defender and blasted a shot into the side netting for his first career goal and only tally of the game.
Ty Baudendistel was in goal for the Gorloks as he made four saves in his second career solo shutout.
The Gorloks are back in action on Tuesday, September 27
th when they travel to Eureka, Illinois, to take on the Eureka (Ill.) College Red Devils. The game is set to start at 5 p.m.
