Gorloks Score Five in Win

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's soccer team was back in action this afternoon when they played host to the Principia (Ill.) College Panthers for a SLIAC matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Panthers by a final score of 5-1 to improve to 6-8-3 on the season and 4-2-2 in the SLIAC. With the loss, Principia drops to 3-11-1 on the year and 1-6-1 in the conference.

Webster outshot Principia 21-9 in the game and put 13 shots on target compared to four from the Panthers. Webster also led in the corner count as they finished with six while Principia had one.

The Gorloks played well to start the first half and were able to get on the board in the 27th minute of the game. Talha Dizdarevic had the goal for Webster as he buried a penalty kick for his 10th tally of the year. Jack Thompson added to the Webster lead just three minutes later as he finished off a cross from Nick Thomas for his second goal of the year. Danny Nusinovic finished off the scoring for Webster in the half as he headed in a corner kick from Dalton Sperle with eight minutes to go in the period for his first tally of the season.

Principia came out in the second half and were able to cut the lead 3-1 just 10 minutes into the period after converting a penalty kick. Webster picked it up after the goal and were able to extend their lead to 4-1 in the 74th minute when Talha Dizdarevic finished off his second of the game. Danny Parks closed out the scoring for Webster as he was able to volley in a corner kick from Kyle Parrella in the 81st minute to solidify the win for the Gorloks.

Luke Dillon (6-8-3) and Ty Baudendistel split time in goal for Webster in this one as they combined for three saves in the contest.

The Gorloks will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 28th when they travel to Batesville, Arkansas, to take on the Lyon (Ark.) College Scots for their final game of the regular season. The game is set to start at 3:30 p.m.
