ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action this afternoon when they played host to the Mississippi University for Women Owls. The Gorloks defeated the Owls by a final score of 9-0 to end their fall season with a perfect 5-0 record. With the loss, the Owls drop to 0-2 on the year.
Webster got off to a great start in doubles as they swept all three points.
Bailey Higgins and
Kylie Chitwood won #1 doubles as they defeated Audrey Foreman and Macie Manasco by a final score of 8-0.
Maddie Mena and
Evie Schuetz won #2 doubles as they defeated Maggie Taylor and Mallory Parker by a final score of 8-3.
Carlie Barban and
Chloe Daughtry completed the doubles sweep as they won #3 doubles over Kelis Griffin and Jaysa Whatley by a final score of 8-7 (3).
The Gorloks carried over their momentum into singles and were able to take all six points.
Bailey Higgins won #1 singles over Maggie Etheridge by final scores of 6-1 and 6-4.
Kylie Chitwood defeated Macie Manasco in #2 singles by final scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
Maddie Mena took #3 singles as she defeated Maggie Taylor by final scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
Evie Schuetz won #4 singles as she defeated Mallory Parker by final scores of 6-1 and 6-1.
Navone Armstrong took #5 singles as she defeated Kelis Griffins by final scores of 6-3 and 6-2.
Chloe Daughtry scored the final point for Webster as she won #6 singles over Jaysa Whatley by final scores of 6-4 and 6-2.
The Gorloks will return to the court in the spring.
