CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action this afternoon when they played host to Shawnee State (Ohio) University for a nonconference matchup at Forest Lake Tennis Center. The Gorloks fell to the Bears by a final score of 5-4 to drop to 5-1 on the season. With the win, Shawnee State improves to 2-6 on the year.
The Gorloks had a hard time getting anything going in the doubles portion of the match as they dropped #1 and #2 doubles by final scores of 8-6 before picking up a point in #3 doubles.
Evie Schuetz and Bailey Pineda recorded the win for Webster as they defeated Brooklyn Foose and Claire Favre by a final score of 8-1.
The Gorloks picked it up in the singles portion of the match and were able to take three out of six points.
Kylie Chitwood won #2 singles as she defeated Lacey Urban by final scores of 1-6, 6-2, and 10-5.
Evie Schuetz won #5 singles as she defeated Brooklyn Foose by final scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Lastly,
Chloe Daughtry won #6 singles over Claire Favre by final scores of 6-4 and 6-2.
The Gorloks will return to the court on Saturday, March 2
nd when they travel to Conway, Arkansas, to take on Hendrix (Ark.) College for a nonconference matchup. The match is set to start at 10 a.m.
