ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the second straight week,
Julie Baudendistel of the women's basketball team was named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week and
Vanessa Jones of the women's track and field team was named the SLIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Baudendistel, a senior out of St. Louis, Missouri, led the Gorloks to two conference wins last week including a 90-64 win over Eureka (Ill.) College and a 79-66 win over Principia (Ill.) College. She scored 24 points and pulled down seven rebounds against Eureka and followed that up with 15 points and seven rebounds against Principia. She shot 54 percent from the field for the week while blocking three shots and picking up two steals. Baudendistel has scored in double figures in each of her last four games and currently averages a team high 15.7 points per game. This is her third career SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award.
Jones, a graduate student out of Orlando, Florida, had a great showing in the 60-meter hurdles over the weekend. After breaking a personal record last week in the 55-meter hurdles, Jones set a personal record in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries by running a school record time of 9.33 seconds. She followed that up with a time of 9.34 seconds in the finals to capture eighth place in the event. Jones broke her previous school record of 9.45 seconds that she set last year in the SLIAC Indoor Championships. This is her second career SLIAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year award.
