HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Webster University women's tennis team opened up their spring break trip this morning with a matchup against Western Connecticut State University in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Gorloks swept the Wolves by a final score of 9-0 to improve to 7-4 on the season. With the loss, Western Connecticut falls to 4-12 on the year.
Webster got off to a great start in doubles as they swept all three matches.
Erin Brezovar and
Bailey Higgins got things going for the Gorloks as they took down Sarah Cipriano and Diana Rebelo in #1 doubles by a final score of 8-1.
Emma Ferguson and
Kylie Chitwood kept things going for Webster as they defeated Sophie Charbonneau and Melanie Grasso in #2 doubles by a final score of 8-1.
Bailee Pineda and
Nadia Giacomini completed the sweep for the Gorloks as they defeated Brooke Stillman and Natalie Paradise in #3 doubles by a final score of 8-2.
The Gorloks carried over their momentum into singles as they swept all six matches.
Erin Brezovar defeated Melanie Grasso in #1 singles by final scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
Emma Ferguson won #2 singles over Sarah Cipriano by final scores of 6-2, 2-6, and 10-7.
Bailey Higgins defeated Diana Rebelo in #3 singles by final scores of 6-4 and 6-1.
Kylie Chitwood won #4 singles over Sophie Charbonneau by final scores of 6-2 and 6-1.
Maddie Mena and
Chloe Daughtry finished off the sweep for Webster as Mena won #5 singles over Natalie Paradise by final scores of 6-4 and 6-2 while Daughtry won #6 singles over Brooke Stillman by final scores of 6-1 and 6-4.
The Gorloks will return to the court tomorrow, March 13
th when they take on Ramapo (N.J.) College in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The match is set to start at 10 a.m. EST time at Hilton Head Resort.
