REDLANDS, Calif. – The Webster University baseball team was back in action this afternoon when they traveled to Redlands, California, to take on the University of Redlands (Calif.) for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Bulldogs by a final score of 8-1 in six innings after the game was called due to rain. With the win, Webster improves to 4-6 on the year.
The Gorloks put together seven hits in the contest. They got on the board first in this one as they rallied for four runs in the top of the second to take a 4-0 lead. The Bulldogs cut the lead to three in the bottom of the third, but another four-run rally in the top of the fifth would solidify the win for the Gorloks.
J.T. Miller (1-0) got the start for the Gorloks as he allowed just three hits and one earned run while striking out seven in 4.0 innings.
Deven Shulstad pitched in relief as he allowed just one hit in the final 2.0 innings of the game.
Nate Mosqueda led the way at the plate as he went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
Parker Wielt also had a nice game as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI. In addition,
Evan Evola,
R.J. LaRocco, and
Matt Staker each recorded an RBI.
The Gorloks return to the field on Thursday, March 16
th when they travel to Claremont, California, to take on Pamona-Pitzer (Calif.) University. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. PST.
