HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Webster University women's tennis team continued play on their spring break trip this afternoon when they took on Randolph (Va.) College for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks were able to stay unbeaten on their trip as they defeated the Wildcats by a final score of 8-1 to improve to 9-4 on the season.
Webster got off to a great start as they took all three matches in doubles.
Erin Brezovar and
Bailey Higgins won #1 doubles as they defeated Valentina Santos and Sabrina Dickerson by a final score of 8-3.
Emma Ferguson and
Kylie Chitwood won #2 doubles as they defeated Harper Whetzel and Gianna Cabrera by a final score of 8-6.
Maddie Mena and
Bailee Pineda completed the doubles sweep for Webster as they won #3 doubles over Jenna Fink and Cassidy Bell by a final score of 8-7 (2).
The Gorloks carried over their momentum into singles as they took five out of six matches.
Erin Brezovar won #1 singles as she defeated Valentina Santos by final scores of 6-1, 2-6, and 10-7.
Emma Ferguson won #2 singles over Sabrina Dickerson by final scores of 6-0 and 6-4.
Kylie Chitwood took #4 singles as she defeated Jenna Fink by final scores of 6-4 and 6-2.
Maddie Mena won #5 singles over Cassidy Bell by final scores of 6-3 and 6-0. Lastly,
Bailee Pineda won #6 singles over Gianna Cabrera by final scores of 6-0 and 6-3.
The Gorloks return to the court tomorrow, March 17
th when they play a doubleheader in Hilton Head to wrap up their spring break trip. The Gorloks will take on the University of Lynchburg (Va.) at 8 a.m. EST and Dickinson (Pa.) College at 1 p.m. EST at Hilton Head High School.
