ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action over the last two days as they took on the Principia (Ill.) College Panthers on Friday and #19 Washington (Mo.) University Bears on Saturday. The Gorloks dropped both matches as they fell to the Panthers by a final score of 7-2 and to the Bears by a final score of 9-0 to drop to 13-10 on the season and 0-2 in the UMAC.
Webster got off to a great start in doubles against Principia as
Erin Brezovar and
Bailey Higgins defeated Bissola Lassissi and Veronica Volkart in #1 doubles by a final score of 8-4.
Emma Ferguson and
Kylie Chitwood dropped #2 doubles by a final score of 8-5 while
Maddie Mena and
Bailee Pineda fell in #3 doubles by a final score of 8-5.
The Gorloks had a tough time getting anything going in singles as the Panthers won five out of six matches.
Bailee Pineda picked up the only point for Webster in singles as she defeated Ruth Hummell by final scores of 6-0 and 6-3 in #6 singles. In addition,
Erin Brezovar dropped #1 singles by final scores of 6-2 and 6-0,
Emma Ferguson fell in #2 singles by final scores of 6-0 and 6-2,
Bailey Higgins fell in #3 singles by final scores of 7-6 (4) and 6-1,
Kylie Chitwood dropped #4 singles by final scores of 6-1 and 6-4, and
Maddie Mena lost in #5 singles by final scores of 6-2 and 6-3.
In their second match of the weekend, the Gorloks had a tough time getting anything going in doubles.
Erin Brezovar and

Kylie Chitwood fell in #2 doubles by a final score of 8-1. Lastly,
Maddie Mena and
Bailee Pineda fell in #3 doubles by a final score of 8-3.
The Gorloks were not able pick up a point in singles.

Bailee Pineda dropped #6 singles by final scores of 6-1 and 6-1.
The Gorloks are back in action today as they host the Westminster (Mo.) College Blue Jays for a doubleheader. The first match is set to start at 11 a.m. with the second to follow. The team will honor the seniors on the team following the first match.
