FULTON, Mo. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action tonight when they traveled to Fulton, Missouri, to take on the Westminster (Mo.) College Blue Jays for their final match of the regular season. The Gorloks swept the Blue Jays by a final score of 9-0 to improve to 14-10 on the year and 1-2 in UMAC play.
The Gorloks opened the match by taking all three points in doubles.
Erin Brezovar and
Bailey Higgins won #1 doubles as they defeated Erika Watanabe and Izabelle Smith by a final score of 8-0.
Kylie Chitwood and
Bailee Pineda won #2 doubles as they defeated Natalie Benton and Chasity Eaton by a final score of 8-0. Lastly,
Emma Ferguson and
Maddie Mena won #3 doubles by forfeit.
Webster carried over their momentum into singles as they did not allow Westminster to score a single point.
Erin Brezovar won #1 singles,
Bailey Higgins won #2 singles,
Kylie Chitwood won #3 singles, and
Bailee Pineda won #4 singles all by final scores of 6-0 and 6-0.
Emma Ferguson and
Maddie Mena completed the sweep as they won #5 and #6 singles by forfeit.
The Gorloks will return to the court Friday, April 21
st when they compete in the UMAC South Division Semifinal at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The time of the match and the opponent has not yet been announced.
