SAUGET, Ill. – The Webster University baseball team was back in action this afternoon as they played host to the Principia (Ill.) College Panthers for the final two games of the three-game SLIAC series. The Gorloks swept the doubleheader as they won the first game by a final score of 10-0 (7 inn.) and the second game by a final score of 32-4 (7 inn.) to improve to 24-12 on the year and 15-3 in conference play. With the sweep, the Panthers drop to 3-24 on the season and 1-17 in the SLIAC.

It did not take long for the Gorloks to get on the board in the first game of the day as
Parker Wielt hit his sixth homerun of the season in the top of the first to give Webster a 2-0 lead. The Gorloks added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth as they rallied for four runs, including a two-run homerun from
Evan Evola (9), to take a 6-0 lead in the game. Webster would add a run in the bottom of the fifth, two runs in the bottom of the sixth, and a run in the bottom of the seventh to solidify the first game of the doubleheader.
Deven Shulstad (5-1) pitched a gem for the Gorloks as he allowed just three hits while striking out six in his first complete game shutout of the season.
Webster rallied for 13 hits in the contest.
Parker Wielt led the way at the plate as he went 3-for-4 with two-run homerun and four RBI. In addition,
Mitch Daniels went 3-for-4 with two RBI,
Ben Swords went 2-for-4 with an RBI,
Evan Evola went 2-for-3 with a two-run homerun, and
Zach Goodman went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
In the second game of the day, Webster got off to another quick start as they rallied for five runs on four hits in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. The Panthers responded with four runs in the top of the second, but an 11-run inning from the Gorloks in the bottom half of the inning gave Webster a 16-4 lead in the game. The Gorloks would add a run in the bottom of the third, five runs in the bottom of the fourth, four runs in the bottom of the fifth, and six runs in the sixth to solidify the sweep.
Cade Gebhard was the starting pitcher for the Gorloks in this one as he allowed two hits and four earned runs while striking out one in 2.0 innings.

Parker Wielt pitched in relief as the five combined to allow just one hit while striking out eight in the final 5.0 scoreless innings.
Webster rallied for 23 hits in the contest. They had five hitters record multi-hit games as

Ben Kowalski went 1-for-1 with an RBI,
Nathaniel Martinez went 1-for-1 with three RBI,
Mitch Daniels went 1-for-2 with three RBI,
Nate Mosqueda 1-for-3 with an RBI, and
Matt Staker went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
The Gorloks will return to the field on Tuesday, May 2
nd when they travel to Naperville, Illinois, to take on the North Central (Ill.) College Cardinals for a nonconference matchup. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
