BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action this afternoon when they traveled to Belleville, Illinois, to take on Southwestern Illinois College for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks defeated SWIC by a final score of 9-0 to improve to 15-7 on the season.
Webster got off to a great start in the match as they swept doubles play.
Erin Brezovar and
Kylie Chitwood won #1 doubles as they defeated Abigail McIsaac and Joanna Cullen by a final score of 8-2.
Maddie Mena and
Chloe Daughtry won #2 doubles as they took down Brianna Weiss and Loghan Phetsadasack by a final score of 8-2.
Bailey Higgins and
Emma Ferguson completed the doubles sweep as they won #3 doubles by forfeit.
The Gorloks carried their momentum in the singles portion of the match as they notched all six points.
Erin Brezovar won #1 singles as she defeated Abigail McIsaac by final scores of 6-3 and 6-4.
Bailey Higgins captured #2 singles as she defeated Allison Peck by final scores of 6-4 and 6-0.
Kylie Chitwood picked up the win in #3 singles as she defeated Joanna Cullen by final scores of 6-0 and 7-6 (4).
Maddie Mena won #4 singles as she defeated Brianna Weiss by final scores of 6-1 and 6-3.
Chloe Daughtry picked up the win in #5 singles as she defeated Loghan Phetsadasack by final scores of 7-5 and 6-4.
Emma Ferguson completed the sweep as she won #6 singles by forfeit.
The Gorloks will return to the court on Wednesday, April 12
th when they travel to Greenville, Illinois, to take on the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers for their first UMAC matchup of the season. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
