PEORIA, Ill. – The Webster University softball team was back in action this evening when they traveled to Peoria, Illinois, to compete in the SLIAC Softball Tournament against Fontbonne (Mo.) University. The third seeded Gorloks defeated the second seeded Griffins by a final score of 7-1 to advance in the winners bracket of the SLIAC Softball Tournament. With the loss, the Griffins will face Greenville (Ill.) University tomorrow for an elimination game.

After two scoreless innings, Webster was able to get on the board in the top of the third as they rallied for two runs to take a 2-0 lead. The Griffins would answer with a run in the bottom half of the third, but two more runs from the Gorloks in the top of the fourth would give them a 4-1 advantage. Webster would extend their lead to 6-1 in the top of the sixth after a two-run double from Jaelin Holdaway, and then would bring one more run around to score in the top of the seventh to solidify the win.

Kaley Adzick (9-8) pitched a gem for the Gorloks as she allowed just five hits while striking out two in her sixth complete game of the season.

Webster tallied 10 hits in the contest. Katie Croxall and Jaelin Holdaway led the way as Croxall went 3-for-5 with an RBI while Holdaway went 3-for-4 with three RBI. In addition, Kaelyn Kearney went 1-for-4 with an RBI and Madi Stichling added an RBI to round out the top performers for Webster.

The Gorloks have advanced in the winners bracket and will take on the top seeded Spalding (Ky.) University Golden Eagles tomorrow, May 12^th at 2:30 p.m. in Peoria, Illinois. The game will take place at the Louisville Sports Complex.
