Gorloks Draw Grinnell

GRINNELL, IOWA – The Webster University men's soccer team was back in action this afternoon when they traveled to Grinnell, Iowa, to take on the Grinnell (Iowa) College Pioneers for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks and the Pioneers went scoreless in the game as Webster improved to 2-2-1 on the season while Grinnell moved to 2-1-2 on the year.

Webster outshot Grinnell 23-17 and put 12 shots on goal compared to six from the Pioneers. Grinnell led in the corner count as they had seven while the Gorloks had six.

In the first half of the game, the Pioneers came out and controlled the possession early. They peppered the Gorloks for 10 shots in the half and forced Luke Dillion to make three saves. Despite the pressure, Webster was able to keep them out of the back of the net as the score remained tied at the break.

Webster picked it up to start the second half and were dangerous from the start. They turned up the pressure and forced the Pioneers keeper to make 12 saves in the period. However, they were not able to capitalize on their opportunities as the game ended in a draw.

Luke Dillon (2-2-1) was the keeper for the Gorloks as he recorded five saves in his first solo shutout of the season.

The Gorloks will return home on Friday, September 15th when they host the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
