Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's soccer team was back in action this evening when they played host the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks were defeated by the Pioneers by a final score of 4-0 to drop to 2-3-1 on the season. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 4-0-2 on the season.
The Gorloks were outshot by the Pioneers by a final count of 22-5 and put three shots on target compared to 10 from Platteville. The Pioneers also led in the corner count as they finished with seven while Webster had two.
Webster got off to a rough start in the first half of the game as the Pioneers were able to score in the 7
th minute of the contest to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The Gorloks had a tough time getting anything going in the period as they were held to just one shot on target in the half.
Dalton Sperle had the shot for Webster but was unable to capitalize as Platteville took a 1-0 lead into the break.
The Gorloks picked it up to start the second half but a second goal from Platteville in the 56
th minute of the game put them up 2-0 in the contest. They would go on to add two more goals in the half and closed out Webster down the stretch to solidify the win.
Luke Dillon (2-3-1) was in goal tonight for Webster as he recorded six saves in the contest.
The Gorloks will return to the field on Tuesday, September 19
th when they host Illinois College for a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
