ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action this evening when they played host to the Anderson (Ind.) University Ravens for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Ravens by a final score of 8-1 to improve to 4-0 on the year. With the loss, the Ravens drop to 2-1 on the year.

The Gorloks got off to a great start in doubles as they won all three points. Journee White and Kylie Chitwood won #1 doubles as they defeated Megan Long and Claire Hannaford by a final score of 8-3. Bailey Higgins and Maddie Mena won #2 doubles as they defeated Ella Maiden and Jenna Jenkins by a final score of 8-5. Lastly, Bailee Pineda and Evie Schuetz won #3 doubles over Gabby Hosier and Kate Oberle by a final score of 8-5.

Webster carried their momentum into singles as they took five out of six points. Journee White won #1 singles over Megan Long by final scores of 6-3 and 6-0, Bailey Higgins took #2 singles over Claire Hannaford by final scores of 6-1 and 7-5, Maddie Mena won #4 singles over Ella Maiden by final scores of 6-3 and 6-0, Bailee Pineda won #5 singles over Katie Bishop by final scores of 6-0 and 6-0, and Evie Schuetz won #6 singles over Angelia Thorson by final scores of 6-3 and 6-0.

The team will be back in action next weekend when they compete in the ITA Regional Championships at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The tournament schedule has not yet been announced.
