ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This weekend three member of the women's tennis team competed in the ITA Regional Championships at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Journee White, Kylie Chitwood, and Bailey Higgins all competed for the Gorloks.

Journee white competed in the main draw in singles and was able to defeat Freya Rahm from Oberlin (Ohio) College in the first round by final scores of 6-2 and 6-2 to advance to the round of 32. She was then defeated in the round of 32 by Natalie Bassett from North Central (Ill.) College by final scores of 6-1 and 6-0.

Kylie Chitwood competed in the red draw for singles and was defeated in the first round by Ariana Fernanda Rodriguez from Denison (Ohio) University by a final score of 8-3. After receiving a bye in the first round of the consolation bracket, Chitwood was defeated in the consolation semifinals by Abby Cruiser from Ohio Northern University by a final score of 8-0.

Bailey Higgins competed in the green draw for the Gorloks and was defeated in the first round by Sophia Pischalko from Wittenberg (Ohio) University by a final score of 8-0. She then fell in the first round of the consolation bracket to Evelyn Daren from John Carroll (Ohio) University by a final score of 8-6.

Journee White and Kylie Chitwood also teamed up to compete in the doubles main draw. They fell in the first round to Jamie Hurst and Julianne Sheldon from Ohio Northern University by a final score of 8-4. They then went on to the consolation bracket where they defeated Taylor Goldman and Wynne Aldrich from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) by a final score of 8-6. They then defeated Soussana Kimbouris and Molly Stevison in the round of 16 by a final score of 8-2. They advanced to the quarterfinals where they defeated Addison Brannon and Lanie Carder from Greenville (Ill.) University by a final score of 8-2. Despite making it to the consolation semifinals, the rest of the matches were canceled in the bracket due to schools having to leave.

The Gorloks will return to the court on Thursday, October 5^th when they host the Mississippi University for Women Owls for a nonconference matchup. The match is set to start at 8 a.m. at the Webster Groves Recreational Complex.
