ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's soccer team was back in action this afternoon when they played host to the Dominican (Ill.) University Stars for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks were defeated by the Stars by a final score of 4-0 to drop to 1-1 on the season. With the win, the Stars improve to 1-0 on the year.
The Gorloks were outshot 19-10 in the game and put five shots on target compared to 10 from the Stars. Webster led in the corner count as they had six while Dominican had four.
The Gorloks came out in the first half and had a tough time controlling the possession early. The Stars took advantage and were able to score on a free kick in the 26
th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Dalton Sperle had the best chance for the Gorloks late in the half, but the Stars would take a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
The Stars came out in the second half and continued to control the possession for most of period. They were able to score a second goal in the 55
th minute and held a 2-0 lead in the contest. Dominican would add two more goals in the half and shut down the Gorloks to solidify the win.
Luke Dillion (1-1) was in goal for Webster as he recorded six saves the contest.
The Gorloks are back in action on Wednesday, September 6
th when they host the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis (Mo.) Eutectics for a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
