ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's basketball team was back in action this afternoon when they played host to the Lyon (Ark.) College Scots for their final game of the regular season. The Gorloks were defeated by the Scots by a final score of 65-53 to drop to 12-3 on the season and 10-8 in conference play. With the win, Lyon ends their season with a 16-8 overall record and a 13-5 mark in the SLIAC.
Prior to the start of the game, the Gorloks honored the six seniors on the team for their hard work and dedication to the program while sporting a Gorlok uniform.

Josh Luster were all recognized.
The Gorloks went 20-for-65 (30.8%) from the floor and 3-for-17 (17.6%) from behind the arc. They were outrebounded by a final count of 45-39 with 15 rebounds coming on the offensive end. They forced the Scots to turn the ball over 15 times in the game turned those turnovers into 15 points on the other end of the floor. Webster also dished out 11 assists while blocking six shots.
Webster came out in the first half of the game and had a tough time scoring the ball early as they were held to just eight points through the first 14 minutes of the contest. Despite struggling offensively, they played tough defense in the half and found themselves trailing by 13 with five minutes to play in the period. They would cut the lead down to as many as seven, but a 6-2 run from Lyon to end the half put them up 32-21 at the break.
Webster picked it up to start the second half and went on a 7-3 run in the opening minutes of the period to cut the lead to seven. The Scots would push their lead back to 13 over the next few minutes, but another run from the Gorloks would put them down just five midway through the half. Lyon would push their lead back out to 13 as the half progressed and held off the Gorloks to solidify the win.
Jemard Sykes II led the way for Webster as he finished with a team high 12 points to go along with nine rebounds and four assists.
Justin Ugo also played well as he finished with eight points and a team high 11 rebounds. In addition,
Jason Coleman and
Booker Simmons each finished with nine points while
Nate Jones added eight points.
The Gorloks have solidified the fourth seed in the SLIAC Tournament and will host the fifth seeded Blackburn (Ill.) College Beavers on Tuesday, February 20
th at 7 p.m. in Grant Gymnasium.
