Gorloks Win Second Straight in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Webster University baseball team was back in action this morning when they took on the Franklin (Ind.) College Grizzles in Memphis, Tennessee. The Gorloks defeated the Grizzlies by a final score of 7-1 to improve to 2-0 on the year. With the loss, Franklin drops to 1-1 on the season.

Webster got off to a great start in this one as they scored a run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead. They added a run in the top of the third and a run in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 3-0. The Grizzles would cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth, but a run in the top of the seventh, two runs in the top of the eighth, and one run in the top of the ninth solidified the win for Webster.

The Gorloks put together 12 hits in the contest with five different players recording a multi-hit game. Karl Peters led the way for Webster as he went 2-for-5 with a solo homerun (1) and four runs scored. James Theodore, R.J. LaRocco, Evan Evola, and Dylan McKee each recorded two hits in the game with McKee also recording an RBI. In addition, Parker Murrow went 1-for-3 with a solo homerun and Nathaniel Martinez drove in a run to round out the top performers at the plate for Webster.
