HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action this morning when they took on Shepard (W.V.) University for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks were defeated by the Rams by a final score of 6-1 drop to 6-5 on the year.

The Gorloks and Rams played NCAA Division II tennis rules with doubles counting as one point. Bailey Higgins and Maddie Mena were able to win #1 doubles over Marketa Beladova and Ximena Bolanos by a final score of 7-5. However, Webster was unable to win #2 or #3 doubles and the Rams captured the lone point in doubles.

The Gorloks also had a tough time getting anything going in the singles portion of the match but were able to pick up a point in #6 singles. Carlie Barban scored the point for Webster as she defeated Brianna Caceda in #6 singles by final scores of 6-2 and 6-3.

The Gorloks will return to the courts on Thursday, March 14^th when they take on Agnes Scott (Ga.) College in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The match is set to take place at 3 p.m. EST.
