Gorloks Fall in Final Spring Break Match

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Webster University men's tennis team was back in action this afternoon when they played their final match of their spring break trip against Catholic University of America (DC). The Gorloks were defeated by the Cardinals by a final score of 7-2 to fall to 4-9 on the season. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 8-4 on the year.

The Gorloks got off to a great start in doubles as they captured two out of three points. After dropping #1 doubles, Ethan Foucheaux and Tyler Gonzalez won #2 doubles over Allan Van Nostrand and Henry Ogden by a final score of 8-5. Robert McDaniel and Jack Forlenza picked up the other point for Webster as they defeated Charles Robbins and Drew Andrianopoulos in #3 doubles by a final score of 8-7 (0).

The Gorloks had a tough time getting anything going in singles as they were unable to pick up a point. Ethan Foucheaux and Matthew Birchmeier came the closest to winning their singles matches as they both took their matches to a third game. Foucheaux fell in #1 singles to James Earwood by final scores of 6-3, 5-7, and 3-10. Birchmeier dropped #2 singles to Diego Romo by final scores of 1-6, 6-2, and 8-10.

The Gorloks will return home on Thursday, March 21st when they travel to Godfrey, Illinois, to take on Lewis & Clark Community College for a nonconference matchup. The match is set to start at 3:30 p.m.
