CONWAY, Ark. – The Webster University men's tennis team was back in action this morning when they traveled to Conway, Arkansas, to take on the Hendrix (Ark.) College Warriors for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks fell to the Warriors by a final score of 8-1 to drop to 2-6 on the year.
The Gorloks got off to a slow start in the match as they dropped all three points doubles.
Matthew Birchmeier and
Carson Fisher fell to Augustin Kalinowski and Maximilian Henderson in #1 doubles by a final score of 8-1.
Ethan Foucheaux and
Tyler Gonzales nearly won #2 doubles but ultimately fell to Jackson Roybal and Eric Meyne by a final score of 8-7 (3). Lastly,
Jack Forlenza and
Robert McDaniel fell in #3 doubles by a final score of 8-0.
Ethan Foucheaux was the lone scorer for the Gorloks in singles as he defeated Elijah Pierce in #2 singles by final scores of 6-4 and 6-3. In addition,
Matthew Birchmeier fell in #1 singles by a final scores of 6-1 and 6-4,
Carson Fisher fell in #3 singles by final scores of 6-3 and 6-0,
Robert McDaniel dropped #4 singles by final scores of 6-1 and 6-2,
Jack Forlenza lost #5 singles by final scores of 6-2 and 6-2, and
Tyler Gonzales fell in #6 singles by a final score of 6-3 and 6-1.
The Gorloks will return to the courts tomorrow, March 3
rd when they travel to Clarksville, Arkansas, to take on the University of the Ozarks (Ark.) for a nonconference matchup. The match is set to start at 9 a.m.
