ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University baseball team was back in action last night when they traveled across town to take on the Maryville (Mo.) University Saints for a nonconference matchup. The Gorloks fell to the Saints by a final score of 18-17 to fall to 16-15 on the season.
Maryville got on the board first in this one as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first to jump out to a 2-0 lead. The Gorloks would answer back with five runs in the top of the second to take a 5-2 lead, but a run from the Saints in the bottom of the frame would cut the Gorloks lead to 5-3 heading int the third. Webster would extend their lead back to three in the top of the third, but four runs from Maryville in the bottom half of the inning would give them a 7-6 advantage. Webster would tie the game at seven in the top of the fourth, and then tagged the Saints for six runs in the top of the fifth to take a 13-7 lead. Maryville would cut the lead to 13-10 over the next two innings, but another run from Webster in the top of the seventh would push the lead back out to four. The Saints would outscore Webster 8-3 over the last two innings and solidify the win.
Carter Hunt got the start in this one as he allowed two hits and two earned runs while striking out one in 1.0 inning.

Cullen McBride, and Eli Rompala-Matthews pitched the next 4.0 innings for the Gorloks as they combined to allow seven hits and seven earned runs while striking out one.

Joel Arsenault (2-2) pitched the final three innings for the Gorloks as they allowed two hits and six earned runs while striking out three.
Webster tallied 18 hits in the contest. They had seven players finish with multi-hit games including
Karl Peters who went 2-for-6 with three RBI,
James Theodore who went 3-for-5 with four RBI,
Evan Evola who went 3-for-5 with three RBI,
Parker Murrow who went 2-for-6 with two runs scored,
Nathaniel Martinez who went 2-for-5 with a homerun (9) and five RBI,
Nick Schumacher who went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, and
Zach Goodman who went 3-for-4 with an RBI. In addition,
R.J. LaRocco added an RBI.
The Gorloks return to the diamond on Thursday, April 25
th when they travel to Bloomington, Illinois, to take on Aurora (Ill.) University for a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 6 p.m.
