ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's tennis team was back in action this morning when they played host to the Westminster (Mo.) College Blue Jays for a UMAC matchup. The Gorloks defeated the Blue Jays by a final score of 9-0 to improve to 7-10 on the season.
The Gorloks got off to a great start in the doubles portion of the match as they scored all three points.
Matthew Birchmeier and
Carson Fisher won #1 doubles as they defeated Cooper Pennington and John Stannard by a final score of 8-0.
Ethan Foucheaux and
Tyler Gonzales won #2 doubles as they defeated Will Morris and Hugo Jover by a final score of 8-0.
Robert McDaniel and
Jack Forlenza completed the doubles sweep for Webster as they won #3 doubles over Ryan Pemberton and Travis Beig by a final score of 8-0.
The Gorloks carried their success over into the singles portion of the match as they went on to sweep all six points.
Ethan Foucheaux won #1 singles by a final score of 8-1,
Matthew Birchmeier won #2 singles by a final score of 8-0,
Carson Fisher won #3 singles by a final score of 8-1,
Robert McDaniel won #4 singles by a final score of 8-0,
Jack Forlenza won #5 singles by a final score of 8-0, and Tyler Gonzalez won #6 singles by a final score of 8-0.
The Gorloks will return to the court on Wednesday, April 10
th when they host Greenville (Ill.) University for a UMAC matchup. The match is set to start at 4:30 p.m. at the Webster Groves Recreational Complex.
