Gorloks Volleyball Sweep Knox In Non-Conference Play

GALESBURG, Ill. - The Webster University volleyball team opened a two-game roadstand with a 3-0 sweep over Knox College. WU's Lauren Harms led the attack with 10 kills while Eva Tarlos contributed seven. As a team, the Gorloks recorded a season-best .324 hitting percentage which helped secure their sixth victory of the season. 

Webster and Knox opened the match with back-and-forth play to a tie at four apiece that included kills by Harms, Grace White, and Megan Zablonski. Moments later, the Gorloks added an 8-1 run for the 12-5 lead. In the run, Tarlos added two kills, a solo block, and an assisted block. In addition, Delaney Morio and Zablonski contributed a service ace each while Zablonski added another kill. Following a 3-1 run by Knox, Webster responded with a 5-1 run to that lead of 18-9 that included two kills each from Tyler Ramstack and Harms. Shortly later, the Prairie Fire cut the lead to 20-14 with a 5-2 run. The Gorloks scored the final five points of the set with five kills from five different student-athletes for the 1-0 set advantage

The Gorloks opened the second set with a kill by White when Knox added three consecutive points. With a two-point deficit, Webster countered with a 5-1 run that took the 7-4 lead. In the run, White and Zablonski paired up for an assisted block while Ramstack added a solo block. The run was capped off with a kill by Delaney FullenkampWith the set tied at seven apiece, the Gorloks erupted for an 18-2 run that eventually closed out the set. In the run, Fullenkamp and Harms led the attack with four kills each as Morio, Catherine Rennier, and White contributed one kill each while Zablonski laid down two service aces.  

Knox opened the third set with the 8-4 advantage that included kills by Carley Hersberger and Lauren Brown while Harms added a service ace. Moments later, the Gorloks countered with a 10-2 run that took the 14-10 lead. In the run, Webster added five kills; Tarlos, Brown, Maggie Stanford, Hersberger, and Harms. In addition, Brynn Peloquin contributed back-to-back service aces while Tarlos added one service ace. 

Shortly later, the Gorloks increased their lead to 19-13 with a 5-2 run that included two kills by Leah McGrath and one kill each from Harms and Hersberger. Following the Webster run, Knox responded with a 5-0 run that cut the deficit to one at 19-18. With the one-point lead, Webster responded with a 6-0 run that closed out the match. In the run, Kate Moleski and Tarlos contributed two kills each while Peloquin added another service ace.  

For the match and in addition to Harms and Tarlos, Fullenkamp recorded six kills while as White added five. Setters Morio and Riley Watson both achieved double-digit marks with 15 and 12 respectively. Defensively, Watson and Harms led with seven digs each while Tarlos had three blocks.
