DECATUR, Ill. - The Webster University baseball team hit the road to Millikin University for a neutral site decision against Transylvania University Sunday afternoon at Workman Family Baseball Field. The Gorloks earned their first victory of the 2025 season by defeating Transylvania by the final score of 4-1. WU's Ryan Greifelt and Carter Hunt pitched the full game and combined for 12 strikeouts.

Webster opened this decision with the bats as Karl Peters led off the game and reached base on an error where he later advanced to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, the Gorloks struck first on the scoreboard with an rbi single to right by Evan Evola that scored Peters for the 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, the Pioneers tied the game at one apiece on a rbi single through the left side by Calvin Schubert. Greifelt got out of the inning with a flyout double-play and a caught stealing throw down to second by catcher Dalton Groves

In the top of the second, WU's Ryan Hartz led off the inning with a single to left. Moments later, Hartz advanced to third on a single by right by Nick Schumacher. After a stolen base by Schumacher, Groves laced an rbi single to left that scored Hartz for the 2-1 lead. With runners on the corners and no outs, Peters laid down a great sacrifice bunt that scored Schumacher that increased the advantage to 3-1. In the bottom of the second, WU's Greifelt recorded a scoreless inning with a flyout and back-to-back strikeouts.
