Gorloks Baseball Upset 24th-Ranked UW-Oshkosh 14-4 in Seven Innings.

SAUGET, Ill. - The Webster University baseball team continued their 10-game homestand by hosting 24th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The Gorloks earned a come-from-behind 14-4 victory that was capped off with an 8-run seventh inning. With the victory, Webster improves to 5-9 overall. 

Senior starting pitcher Carter Hunt earned his fifth start of the season and opened the game with a scoreless inning with two flyouts and a groundout. In the bottom half, Braedan Trissell got the Gorloks on the board with a solo homer for the 1-0 lead. Moments later, Adam Moser launched a solo homer that generated a 2-0 advantage. 

In the top of the second, the Titans recorded a four-run inning that started on a lead off solo homer. Shortly later, UW-Oshkosh loaded the bases with a walk and back-to-back singles. With the bases loaded, the Titans added three runs on an error by Webster that made the score 2-4. Hunt got out of the inning with a flyout to short. In the bottom half, Nick Wrubluski got a run back for the Gorloks with a solo homer that made the score 3-4. In the third, both teams were held scoreless as Hunt recorded a strikeout and a 5-1-5 doubleplay. 

In the bottom of the fourth, Ryan Hartz tied the game at four with a solo homer. Moments later, Wrubluski reached base on an error and advanced to second on a single by Reid Hietpas. With one out, Ethan Wielt reached base and advanced Wrubluski to third with a fielder's choice. With two outs and runners on the corners, the Gorloks executed the double-steal attempt that scored Wrubluski that took the 5-4 lead. 

In the fifth, both teams were held scoreless as Hunt recorded two flyouts and a strikeout which ended his outing. In the sixth, Webster called upon reliever Wes Carter as he recorded a scoreless inning with two groundouts and a flyout. In the bottom half of the sixth, Hartz got the side started with a one-out single to center and stole second. Following a walk drawn by Hietpas, Hartz and Hietpas executed the double-steal and advanced further into scoring positions. Moments later, Hartz scored on a wild pitch that generated the 6-4 lead. 

In the seventh, Carter recorded another scoreless inning that included a flyout, a groundout, and a lineout. In the bottom half, the Gorloks exploded for an 8-run inning that started on bases-loaded hit-by-pitch taken by Moser that made the score 7-4. With the bases still loaded, Dalton Groves made the score 9-4 with a two-run sacrifice fly that scored Theodore and Trissell. With one out and Moser on second, Hartz ripped an RBI single that scored Moser and increased the lead to 10-4. Following walks drawn by Wrubluski and Wielt, Jacob Charlson made the score 12-4 with a two-run single. Following a pitching change by UW-Oshkosh, James Theodore laced a single that loaded the bases. With two outs, Trissell walked off the game a two-run single that scored Wielt and Charlson. 

For the game, Trissell and Hartz both recorded three hits each as both student-athletes launched a solo homer. Trissell led the team with three RBI's while Hartz, Charlson and Moser added two RBI's each. Moser and Wrubluski contributed a solo homer each. 

On the mound, Hunt pitched five innings and recorded five strikeouts. Wes Carter closed out the final two innings and allowed no runs.
