Gorloks Open 2026 Season with 3-1 Win at UHSP

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a 3-1 win over the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Tuesday evening. The Gorloks defeated the Eutectics by scores of 25-17, 13-25, 25-21 and 25-13 to improve to 1-0 on the season.

Webster finished the match with 52 kills on 159 attacks for a .126 hitting percentage. The Gorloks also recorded 11 service aces, 44 assists, 72 digs and four total blocks. UHSP finished with 24 kills on 129 attacks for a .039 hitting percentage, while adding seven aces, 24 assists, 68 digs and four blocks.

The Gorloks jumped out to an early lead in the opening set and held an 18-14 advantage after a four-point run. Webster continued to build its lead late in the set, taking a 22-15 advantage before closing out the 25-17 win.

UHSP responded in the second set, jumping out to a 5-0 lead before extending its advantage to 12-4 and eventually 16-5. The Eutectics continued to control the set and evened the match with a 25-13 win.

Webster bounced back in the third set, taking an early 11-5 lead. UHSP battled back and eventually tied the set at 17-17 and then 20-20. The Gorloks moved back in front at 21-20 and closed out the set with a 25-21 win to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

The fourth set was tied at 8-8 before Webster went on a 7-1 run to take a 15-9 lead. The Gorloks continued to add to their advantage, leading 19-10 and 22-11 before finishing off the match with a 25-13 win.

Reagan Howe led the way for the Gorloks as she finished with a team-high 14 kills. Mea Bystrom added nine kills while Eva Tarlos finished with seven. Emma Price and Addison Urbanski ran the attack for Webster as Price finished with a team-high 21 assists while Urbanski added 15. Lexi Filkins led the team defensively as she finished with 12 digs, while Leah McGrath and Price added 11 digs.

The Gorloks will return home for their home opener on Thursday, Sept. 3 as they host Principia College at 7 p.m. in Grant Gymnasium.
