ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's soccer team fell 1-0 to defending OAC conference champion Wilmington College Saturday afternoon at Worldwide Technology Soccer Park. The Quakers, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season, scored the lone goal with just 1:18 remaining in regulation.
The match remained scoreless until the 88th minute, when Wilmington scored to take the lead.
Webster finished with seven shots, including two on goal. Malaya Blakely led the Gorloks with five shots, while Emily O'Reagan and Mia Smith each recorded a shot on goal. Leia Adkins made three saves in goal for Webster.
The loss moves Webster to 1-2-0 on the season. The Gorloks return to action Tuesday, Sept. 15, hosting Rose-Hulman at 6:30 p.m. at Worldwide Technology Soccer Park.
