ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Webster University men's cross country team competed at the Gabby Reuveni Invitational on Saturday morning, placing fifth as a team with 127 points. Senior Ethan Nieroda and sophomore Simon Muthemba both moved into the Webster cross country record book with their performances in the 5K.
Nieroda led the way for the Gorloks as he finished 27th overall with a time of 17:11.7. His time moved him into second place in Webster's cross country 5K record book. Nieroda was also the fastest SLIAC athlete competing at the Gabby Reuveni Invitational.
Muthemba was the second Gorlok across the finish line, placing 34th overall with a time of 17:21.7. His performance moved him into fourth place in Webster's cross country 5K record book.
Sophomore Brayden Halter was the third Webster runner to finish, recording a time of 18:29.7 to place 51st overall.
Sophomore Gabe Feaman crossed the finish line in 63rd with a time of 19:26.7, while senior Johnny Imboden finished 65th in 19:36.0 to round out Webster's scoring five.
Sophomore Tyler Mooney finished 67th overall with a time of 19:48.6. Senior Jacob Hawkins crossed the finish line in 75th with a time of 22:43.4, while senior Kenneth Louvierre placed 77th in 23:00.2.
"I'm proud of how the men's team ran today. We have been in a bit of a heat wave this week, but the team fought hard through it to run a strong race. I'm excited to see what we do next week in our first 8K of the season," said Head Coach Kyle Robinson.
The Gorloks will return to action on Friday, September 11 when they travel to Columbia, Mo. to compete in the Larry Young Invitational, presented by Columbia College. The race will be held at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course and is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
